Prada Uomo

For those of you that don't speak Italian, the title of this entry is the Men's line of Prada clothing! Six days into the internship and I'm already picking up some Italian- only the import words like shoes, skirt, bag etc.  =)

While completing this internship I am not only receiving amazing experience working in fashion PR but I am also working for three credits from Hofstra University towards my public relations degree.  In order to meet standards I must submit a journal entry for every day that I complete at Prada, calculating the number of hours completed thus far as well as tasks I have worked on to insure I am actually learning and not just doing coffee runs!

Considering I have approx. zero followers, I'm guessing no one knows my best friend from my homeland, Pennsylvania, AMY SHANAHAN! Amy is currently in Firenze, Italy and she has inspired me to keep track of my experience at Prada this semester.  Amy's blog looks exactly how I bet she feels in Florence studying abroad this semester. I am super jealous of all the amazing times I bet she is busy having, painting Italy red so to speak =)

So at Prada I deal mostly with inventory requests and returns.  This means that when a stylist, fashion editor, magazine editor, or fashion director at a photo shoot wants 6 black skirts, I am who they request them from.  I check and keep track of our public relations samples (since these are being credited to Prada which is major PR props for us being shot in major magazines) so I know what is going where and when.  This allows us to maximize the amount of press each piece receives.  WOO that was confusing! It's okay, I keep track of samples.

Every day I use the Prada Weekly spreadsheets which keep track of who has requested our runway or commercial looks and when they need to be sent by.  HERE'S THE FUN PART! I'm going to name drop a little because as boring as this job sounded so far this is what makes it exciting.
